Thank you, friends!

As 2018 draws to a close let's pause for a moment and hope that 2019 will be a good year for all of us. Let's hope that happiness transpires over sadness, that loving families and friendships will support us in our lives and that we have the wisdom to appreciate and support others.May your holiday season be a good one, whether you celebrate Christmas, Chanukah, Kwanzaa or another holiday,

Ms. Peggie's Place was established 29 years ago and I've been fortunate to have owned it for the past 15. The nicest people walk in here and give us the pleasure of helping them in this wonderful hobby. Along the way we get to understand how they became interested in miniatures and feel honored that they have selected our shop to support them in creating something of beauty and importance.

People come in with dollhouses they've acquired in unusual ways. Just recently a couple told us about visiting the former childhood home of the husband and being graciously invited in by the current owner. At the end of the tour the owner gave them a model of the very home they were standing in. The husband's father had made it many years ago and left it in the attic. It was remembered dimly, but its discovery opened up the doors to a new hobby for this couple.

Others have had a dollhouse for years and are just now getting around to sprucing it up. Still others consider their creation a work in progress and will never consider it finished. Some folks don't have dollhouses nor boxes but search for fittings for other reasons. We had a future grandmother and great-grandmother looking for just the right decor for a baby's room. A crib and clothing chest would be a shower gift in anticipation of the gift items in life size.

We love those who ask lots of questions as well as those who could answer them. Helping is an honor and talking about an interest so dear to us and maybe, just maybe, spreading that joy to others is a privilege we don't take lightly.

Speaking of joy, your visits to Ms. Peggie's Place have been a source of great delight to us. We appreciate your patronage. Our adage of the customer always being number one is easy to fulfill with such nice people, whom we look to more like friends. And, so, friends, we wish you and yours a year of good health and happiness in big ways, and little ways, too, and look forward to a continued relationship in 2019.

In our world of miniatures we hope your life size future will be way out of 1/12 ratio!

Baubles, Bangles, and Trees!

Let's say one evening you return home after a whirlwind night on the town shopping for groceries or getting the car's oil changed when you chance to see this hanging in your miniature creation. It's Santa garb. There it is, a whole outfit hanging on a wooden shelf, just waiting for the jolly man to make his Christmas rounds. But what's this? You haven't thought about decorating for Christmas? Well, come see what's available to make your house into a Christmas Home.

There's no saying where you'll meet the man, or his wife, Mrs. Claus, or in fact exactly how they will look. We have a few in the store here:

One of the best Santas of all, Edmund Gwenn as he appeared in "The Miracle on 34th Street".
Sadly, he is no longer with us.

You might recognize these Santas -- or not.

There is a grove of Christmas trees growing on Cass Street in San Diego. All of the fir variety, each one nicely manicured and decorated, they hail in the holiday season. They look real and festive and will not give the impression of sitting in a yard of artificial trees in say, Miami. Our trees look like the real thing. And, there are more to come! Visit us and see.
Kits are available for additional tree decorating ideas.

There are lots of ways to bring that holiday feeling home. Special foods will add a kick of pizzazz and might include such favorites as seafood and gingerbread houses. Cherrystone clams on the half shell are fun to eat and a real, lifesize portion would disappear quickly, but what about a gingerbread house? Would you have the heart to dig through it?  Never mind, go as far as you want, this is all 12:1 miniatures we're talking about here!

Pretty dishware and other holiday themed accessories will lighten and brighten your rooms.

This is not Mrs. Claus! But what if she was, and what would happen if she needed a desk to respond to letters written to her husband, Mr. Santa Claus? What sort of writing center would she want? And why wouldn't Santa respond to his own mail? Who knows, but if a nifty desk is needed, take a look at these.

This beautiful chest provides a good place to stash treasures.

A chest with treasures already stashed.

A charming red Nanny Bench upon which to sit and enjoy the festivities.

We wish for you and yours a most joyous holiday season and may 2019 bring you great joy!

The Gateway to Summer

The Ms. Peggie's Place Yard Sale in late June was a whopping success despite the unexpectedly chilly temperatures and winds.  The annual event was accented this year by craftworking materials in addition to a large selection of dollhouse furniture, structures and accessories. Somehow, nothing flew away and it appeared that a good time was had by all.

Summer has begun and it's time to take stock in what we already have and what we might need in creating a summer project. But for just a moment, let's remember Betsy Ross, whom popular legend says made the first American flag. And now, move many years forward to celebrating what that flag stands for and the many ways Independence Day, or the Fourth of July, has come to signify the start of summer.

Betsy Ross

The skies are usually clear and the air is sweet. Sitting outside is preferable to lounging by the fireplace these days and a selection of lawn furniture makes this desire a reality.  Add a hammock to the mix and a beautiful summer scene is born.

Hurray for summer!
Add as many necessities, toys and decorations as you want and you're all set.

Ah, but don't forget the food. Whatever you want and in whatever quantities. Some franks, burgers, a good pie. It's your choice.

After day is done, pull up a well-cushioned place to sit down and just relax!

We hope to see you soon!
